New in Calgary after arriving from Perth OZ. Desperate to sample local Micro brewery beers, but not interested in Global names (Guiness, Kilkenny etc) Sampled the Sleemans Honey Brown and was OK for starters with a typical brown after taste, but the honey sweetness came through after. Not my type of beer ... but then if someone else was buying why not!! Sampled a Traditional Ale which was reasonable, but then tried the Grasshopper Wheat beer and I wouldn't have even watered my plants with it!! If you are a wheat beer lover (Belgian/German) you would have thought you would have died and gone to hell. Atmosphere OK but being a total anti smoker it was quite intolerable beig close to someone smoking .... roll on the total ban of smoking in these sort of public places .. a la Perth (as of 1st August 2006)

Last month when I was in Calgary for a convention I attended a private, service company sponsored party on one of this pub’s rooftop patios. I can’t give this pub a full review, since we had a limited range of finger food appetizers (which were decent but not outstanding, and because my sense was that the beers on draft at both of the rooftop patio bars may not have been as extensive as what can be found on the main floors of the pub. But I saw enough of this large downtown Irish pub to believe that it seemingly deserves a listing in Pubcrawler. I will let other reviewers take it from here…
